Michele Bachmann explains to America the victory of U.S. Marines ('GIs') 'over the incursion against the Japanese'

"The perilous battle that was fought during WWII in the Pacific at Iwo Jima was a battle against all odds [60,000 Marines vs. 20,000 dug-in Japanese], and yet this picture immortalizes the victory of young GIs over the incursion against the Japanese." — Tea Party Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn.

How did they do this Michele? Oh wait! We get it! They hid in the caves with the Japanese and shot at imaginary Australians!!!
